Romania’s National Stadium is an UEFA Category 4 stadium (ELITE) and hosted the 2012 UEFA Europe League final. The venue holds 55,600 people but with the potential to expand to 63,000 people. It has 3,600 VIP seats and another 126 seats for the press which could increase to 548 seats. The construction cost was approximately € 234 million and the consultancy services were over € 1.5 million. Even though the stadium is quite classical in design the seats were finished in the colours of the Romanian flag with great visual effect. It has many other impressive features including a floodlighting system in the same national colours, four 30 square meter screens and retractable roof which can be opened/closed in just 15 minutes. Louis Berger generally assisted and supported the Municipality of Bucharest in the management and supervision of the design review and works of the contract.
