In the period May 2009 – December 2012 Afaplan conducted surveillance of construction works for the Douro Interior motorway in Portugal, located between Celorico da Beira and Miranda do Douro, totaling 242 km in length. The motorway contains 251 engineering structures, among which noteworthy due to impressive size re three bridges, 30 viaducts and two tunnels. The most complex structure of the Douro Interior highway is the bridge over the River Tua, which has a length of 500 m and 100 m height from deck to the river. Other features: 12 million square meters of deforestation, 20 million square meters of excavation and earthmoving, 3.7 million square meters of paving, 4.8 million square meters of crops and 100,000 cubic metres of concrete.
